President

I am extremely
grateful that my final year at UNLV will include serving as president
of such an outstanding organization. My experience as an active member
of the UNLV AMA has enriched my college career in ways that I would
have never thought possible. As I continue on to law school in the fall
of 2009, I am confident that the knowledge I will gain while serving as
president will prove to be an invaluable asset.
I am fortunate to be supported by a fantastic Board of Directors. Their
tremendous amount of creativity and enthusiasm will make my job of
providing our chapter with leadership and overall direction that much
easier.
As president, I will focus the efforts of the Board on meeting the following objectives:
-- To provide our members with a number of opportunities to gain the knowledge and tools necessary to make a successful transition into their professional careers
-- To allow our members to interact socially and professionally with prominent members of the local and national business community, developing a network of influential resources
I am proud to serve as the UNLV AMA President and I am happy to answer
any questions you may have. See ya around campus and hopefully at an
upcoming AMA event!

Grace Small
Exec. Vice President

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of such a successful organization on campus and to hold the position of Vice President. I have been an active member of the UNLV American Marketing Association for the past two years and it has been a pleasure watching the team grow and achieve new goals throughout this time. Through my experience with this team, I have gained experience with building and implementing marketing plans and with coordinating professional and informal events for students.
I have also been diligently working at a marketing firm, Access West Marketing as a student intern for the past year. There I’ve had the opportunity to participate in business-to-business sales with prospective accounts, learn the importance of building rapport with future and existing clients, and accommodate customer needs. I also participated in the marketing platform for the 2008 Super Bowl.
Thank you for taking the time to review this biography page and please feel free to read the attached resume outlining the skills I have gained during my experience with the UNLV AMA, my work experience, and my education. I will be graduating in the fall of this year and look forward to the start of my professional career.

Charles Mao
VP of Communications
VP of Careers

It is
an honor to serve and be a part of the UNLV's AMA both as the Vice
President of Communications and Vice President of Careers. This will be
my final year at UNLV and so far the AMA has enabled me to connect with more students than ever before. I am excited to work with an amazing board of directors in reaching out to the UNLV community by creating a meaningful yet fun-filled year at UNLV.
As a board member, some of my duties will include:
-- correspond with AMA members, AMA international headquarters and the community
-- Developing a quarterly newsletter targeted at current members and alumni
Surprisingly, I am not a marketing major but am majoring in economics.
I chose to be such an integral part of AMA because I feel that no
academic discipline should be exclusive nor inclusive to any other. In
order to have a well-rounded and comprehensive academic/social
experience, it is a great idea to place yourself in another environment
and become an active member in an organization that interests you.
UNLV's AMA is one such outstanding organization and I encourage you to
join us no matter what discipline you're from.
Please feel free to contact me anytime!

Sara
Parang
VP of Finance

Growing up I attended schools in Las Vegas and California. I am currently a full-time student majoring in finance. I became involved with the AMA while taking a marketing class. Previously I worked in the financial marketplace as an intern for Scottrade for a year. When I graduate I plan to enter into the financial/capital market again.
As VP of Finance for the AMA, some of my responsibilities include working with the budget, keeping track of all funds (credit union and PayPal accounts: dues, donations, and grants), and issuing reimbursement checks. I also work closely with membership and really enjoy being a member of the AMA.

VP of Programming

I am very
excited to begin my first semester as VP of Programming of the UNLV AMA. I look forward to planning
a multitude of events to unite AMA members as well as attract new members. Our awesome board of directors is especially focused on creating diversity in the UNLV AMA. My position as VP of programming is to plan events that develop opportunities to expand your networks and create lifelong contacts, as well as provide professional development programs to make a smooth transition from student to professional.
Ultimately, I will utilize my college experiences to create opportunities for me to advance in a career in public relations and eventually sports and entertainment management. In the long run, I hope to shine as one of the few women in the sports management industry.

Cong
VP of Advertising & Promotions

I was
born and raised in Guilin, a small southern city in China. I moved to Las Vegas about six years ago. I am a senior at UNLV and majoring in marketing. Last fall, I joined the AMA and the AMA case team. Being in the case team was the greatest experience in my college career. I was very inspired when we attended the AMA National Conference in New Orleans. I have also made many great friends in AMA, such as our new president, Brandon Henderson, and executive vice president, Grace Small. This year, I was honored to be elected as the VP of Advertising. I have been studying art since I was only three years old, and have always loved advertising. I will use all of my skills and experiences to help me do the best job I can. I believe that all the things I learnt from being involved in AMA will help me in my future career and my graduate studies.
